X-Band In-Line Coaxial-to-Groove Gap Waveguide Transition

A coaxial-to-groove gap waveguide transition is proposed for the first time, addressing lack of similar designs in state-of-the-art literature. An in-line configuration adopted case stringent space requirements groove systems. This device has no dielectric and makes use a multi-step ridged section connected to inner conductor coaxial line. Three versions are presented, covering progressively wider bandwidths depending on number employed steps. The three configurations achieve 20-dB return loss fractional 2.63%, 16.79%, 38.08%, 30-dB 0.84%, 10.63%, 33.49%, with simulated insertion always better than 0.05 dB when realistic metal conductivity 2 × 10 7 S/m assumed. tolerance analysis most critical geometrical parameters provided assess mechanical feasibility, preserving remarkable performance at X band.
